Lyla Devlin Sends 2027 Verbal to UConn With Big East Scoring Times

NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and IMer Lyla Devlin of Fairfax, Virginia, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Connecticut for Fall 2027. Devlin is a Futures qualifier.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic career at the University of Connecticut! Thank you so much to my family, friends, and coaches. I couldn’t have gotten here without you! Special thanks to my Mako coaches, Beth, Mike, Erik, Peter, and Heather. Finally, thank you to Coach Nicole and Coach Chris for this incredible opportunity. GO HUSKIES!!”

Devlin does her club swimming with Mason Makos Swim Team and most recently raced at the ISCA International Senior Cup in late-March where she produced seven top-8 finishes and earned four new best times. Devlin had a great showing at the Potomac Valley Open Championship in February, taking second in the 400 IM and third in the 200 breast. Last summer, she competed at Greensboro Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.14
  • 200 breast – 2:15.85
  • 200 IM – 2:04.61
  • 400 IM – 4:25.68
  • 200 free – 51.97
  • 200 free – 1:52.74

Currently a junior at WT Woodson High School, Devlin earned silver in the 100 free and bronze in the 200 IM at the 2026 Virginia Class 6 State Championships. She finished third in the 100 breast at the state meet as a sophomore.

Devlin is a huge pickup for the Huskies, who finished second at the 2026 Big East Championships. Her best time in the 200 breast would’ve placed fourth at the conference meet while her times in the 400 IM and 100 breast would’ve scored eighth and 10th, respectively.
